Dr. Jehuda Reinharz was born in Israel in 1944, got his high school education in Germany, and then went to college, and a lot of it, in the United States. Dr. Reinharz has written 20 books and over 90 articles. He's been drawn on for advice by Presidents, boards, and committees the world over. He has a wife and two children, and is currently the president of Brandeis University in Waltham, MA.
Which
all begs a question - why a web site about this guy? Well, we're not exactly
sure. The domain name was just sitting there begging to be grabbed up,
and we figured we'll find some use for it later. Dr. Reinharz has served
as President here at Brandeis for the past 7 years. During that time he
has done lots of presidential stuff like raising money, running the affairs
of a university, and staying out of sight from the students. This site
is a tribute to Dr. Reinharz's hard work and steady hand in leading Brandeis.
Brandeis University is a 53 year old liberal arts college of 5,000. It was founded by the American Jewish community at the end of World War II as the first non-sectarian Jewish sponsored University in America. Brandeis houses the infamous Department of Near Eastern and Judaic Studies (NEJS), which, as far as we can tell, is the largest Near Eastern study program of any non-sectarian US university.
