Gotta love a tax disguised as as public safety enforcement. That’s kinda the problem with all monitary penalties for violating the law. The government benefits from enforcing it beyond getting you to stop the action so they are biased in its enforcement. But it’s nice to have a tax that just kinda creeps up on you. I mean, if they raised my taxes by $100 I’d be pissed, but a $300 hidden tax, well, I don’t really know it exists.
One neat thing about the bay state is that part of speeding tickets go to a head-injury fund rather than adding to the government’s revenue. The government is still biased in the enforcement, but a little less so.
