I just ordered Watchmen, Sandman Vol. 1, and Buffy Season 8 Vol. 1. If none of those strike my fancy, I’ll give up. If they do…well, this could become an expensive experience. There are how many issues of Sandman?

Indeed. In general, I only buy comics in anthology form. Just like tv shows, I like them all packed together and with an ending.
Well, I’ve been told or come to understand that Watchmen and Sandman are some of the best comics around, and Sandman went on long enough that, even with the “Absolute Sandman” editions, it still covers 4 volumes (each of which costs $63!).
9 Episodes, and one of my favorite series of books, comic or non, ever.
