#7 (cartography) just gave me a thought – what about doing gradiented breadcrumbs. Then the last one could be a “tab” to the current page. Secondly, why should breadcrumb trails disappear if you ascend the order? Wouldn’t it be useful if they stayed in place until you clicked a link leading to a different “branch”?
